From IT Sales to IT Development - A Journey of Growth and Discovery
Hello! I'm Joshua Boermans, a 29-year-old IT enthusiast from Hoofddorp currently making the exciting transition from IT sales into the world of IT development.
For over six years, I worked in IT sales, collaborating with both startups and established companies. During that time, I realized something important: while I enjoyed working with people, my true passion was the technology itself—understanding how systems work, creating solutions, and exploring new innovations. That realization inspired me to take the leap and fully dedicate myself to IT development.
Today, I focus on Python for automation scripts, building websites from front-end to back-end, and working with databases, virtual machines, and Linux environments. Some projects I’m especially proud of include:
I see myself as an analytical problem-solver who loves building things from scratch. My learning style is hands-on: I thrive by exploring, experimenting, and learning from the experiences of others. Looking ahead, I’m eager to grow into roles such as software developer, tester, or network administrator, within a team that values collaboration, growth, open communication, and innovation. For me, the sky is the limit.
Outside of IT, I enjoy playing the guitar, going on long cycling trips, exploring new trading opportunities in stocks and crypto, or working on a DIY project.
Started at XcellerateLabs where I worked with cloud-native startups, followed by roles at Trusted Shops (e-commerce security) and NCC Group (software escrow services). As Head of Growth at UNIT, I gained hands-on experience with low-code development and business automation.
Currently pursuing an intensive IT bootcamp at BEE-Organisation where I specialize in front-end and back-end development, virtual machines, and network management. It's here that I discovered my strong affinity for software development and network administration.
I find peace and challenge in cycling. It helps me stay focused and set goals, skills that are also valuable in my IT career.
Solving practical problems at home helps me maintain analytical thinking - a skill that perfectly aligns with programming and troubleshooting.
Music brings creativity and discipline together. It helps me stay balanced and develop a different form of logical thinking.
Discovering new cultures and places has taught me to be adaptive and open-minded - essential qualities in the rapidly changing IT world.
My goal is to find a position within the IT sector where I can grow from junior to experienced professional. I'm looking for an employer that not only offers a job, but also actively invests in employee development, for example through training and educational programs. This way I can gain practical experience, deepen my technical knowledge and directly add value to the company.
